Our Family Farm in San Polo in Chianti
A Family Tale
Our story begins in the 1920s with Don Jacopo Banchi, parish priest in San Polo, who in 1931 became the owner of the Montiani farmhouses and the Camposasso mill. During the Second World War, Montiani became a refuge for the Matteini family, who remained there until peace returned. In the following decades, the estate passed from Don Jacopo to the Matteini brothers, and in 1976 Francesco became its sole owner. After his passing in 1984, his daughter Felicita carried on the family tradition until 2003, when the estate was entrusted to Marinella, continuing its history as a family-run farm rooted in San Polo in Chianti.

I grew up spending carefree childhood days in Montiani — Sundays and holidays surrounded by my family, aunts, cousins, and the warmth of a big house that welcomed us all around its large tables. In 1999, after earning my degree in Tropical Agriculture, I completed several further specializations, particularly in organic and biodynamic farming. In 2003, together with Michele, we decided to take over the Montiani estate. Supported by our family, we began a new phase of renewal
